Ayur-what?
Ayurveda is a 5,000 year old holistic system of healing that is based in nature. Unlike other health systems, it considers one’s unique constitution while viewing each person as an inseparable part of nature, in which the body, mind, and spirit naturally want to come back into a balanced state of well-being.
Conventional medicine often relies on external inputs- potentially addictive drugs and “quick fixes” to cover up symptoms, which are likely to come back unless the cause of the symptom is addressed. This also keeps people attached to the medical industry and reliant on suggestions of doctors. With Ayurveda, the harmonious balance of body-mind-spirit is reached through increased consciousness, self-responsibility, and taking action to make changes that will clear up the root cause of dis-ease. Instead of covering up symptoms, Ayurveda is long-term-solution based and empowers the client to take responsibility for his or her own health.
